International Conference on the Theology of the Priesthood 2024

The University of Santo Tomas and the Ateneo de Manila University invite you to the International Conference on the Theology of the Priesthood on February 13-14, 2024, at the 21st Floor of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati Building.”

On the first day, His Eminence Marc Cardinal Ouellet, Prefect Emeritus of the Dicastery of Bishops, will deliver his keynote address entitled, “What is the Future for Priesthood?”. Meanwhile, Prof. Clarence M. Batan, PhD of the UST Department of Sociology will start the plenary talks to discuss the “Contemporary Sociological Understanding of Young Filipino Catholics.”

Rev. fr. Rodel E. Aligan, O.P., SThD, former Dean of the UST Faculty of Sacred Theology, will discuss the “Vocation and Formation of Priests in the Philippines.” Also, Rev. fr. Jordan Orbe, S.J., Executive Director of the Emmaus Center for Psycho-Spiritual Formation, will discuss the “Importance of Mental Health and Stress Management for Priests.”

Lastly, Master of the Order of Preachers Very Rev. fr. Gerard Francisco P. Timoner III, O.P. will share his reflections on the “Integrity in Ministry.”

On the second day, UST Secretary-General Rev. Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P., EHL, will synthesize Day 1’s plenary sessions.

Rev. fr. Philippe Capelle Dumont will deliver the keynote address, “Here I am! Theology of the Call, Anthropological Challenges and Pastoral of Vocations.” Meanwhile, Rev. fr. Fabio Baggio, CS of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development will share the “Role of Priests in Ministering to Migrants.â€

Then, Loyola School of Theology’s Sr. Ma. Anicia Co, RVM, will lecture on “Women’s Contributions to the Priesthood.”

His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal G. Tagle will lecture on the “Priestly Ministry on Social Media and the New Evangelization.” Lastly, Dr. Carmen Valdes, also of the Loyola School of Theology, will share the “Role of Priests in Ecological Stewardship.”

The event will follow a hybrid format.
